At the prow of our house’s triangular lot, we're lucky enough to have a piece of Venice history: public art by local installation artist Robin Murez, an anamorphic painting of Abbot Kinney. The portrait is distorted into a mirror reflection that appears properly oriented on the mirrored cylinder. Can you get more Venice than that?

The House

Welcome Home!

In a neighborhood known for its vintage craftsman homes, our little gem is a standout. Built in 1904, the bungalow was likely intended as a vacation getaway, close to Venice Beach and to the original Venice Canals. The house and yard had fallen into great disrepair until it was purchased in 2017 and lovingly restored, including all the original Arts & Crafts–era details. The indoor-outdoor promise of the unique triangular lot was also maximized, with full, secure fencing, decks, brickwork, plantings, and a pergola. We became the home’s next stewards in 2023 and made some more changes of our own so the house would be deliciously livable.

The house is best enjoyed by a couple or any two people happy to share a queen-sized bed. While the couch is very sleepable for one person (it’s not a convertible sofa, but a long comfy one that can be made up as a bed), bringing the potential total head count to three, the whole setup is really best for two, and not ideal for young kiddos.
